🎱 Proposal: Allow Saturday Matches for Scheduling Conflicts

Background

Some bars participating in the Mabprachan Pool League host two teams sharing one pool table, which can occasionally cause scheduling challenges and result in teams playing multiple consecutive away games. To maintain fairness and scheduling balance, an additional match day option is proposed.

Proposal

That the Mabprachan Pool League allows league matches to be played on Saturday evenings when scheduling conflicts occur or when required to prevent a team from playing more than three consecutive away matches. This scheduling will be proposed to the bars first before implemented and serves only if all other options are exhausted.

Objectives

  • βš–οΈ Fair Scheduling: Ensure no barΒ is disadvantaged by extended away streaks.
  • 🏠 Venue Balance: Help bars with limited tables accommodate both home teams fairly.
  • πŸ•’ Flexibility: Provide captains more options for rearranging games without disrupting the calendar.
  • 🀝 Sportsmanship: Encourage cooperation between teams while maintaining league integrity.

Implementation Guidelines

  1. Saturday matches are permitted only by mutual agreement between both team captains.
  2. The League Committee must be notified in advance of the change for record-keeping and schedule updates.
  3. Saturday fixtures will follow the same rules, format, and start time set at 7pm.
  4. The rule applies to both Sunday and Wednesday leagues.

Expected Benefits

  • Eliminates long runs of away games.
  • Increases fairness for all participating teams.
  • Simplifies scheduling for multi-team venues.
  • Keeps the league flexible and enjoyable for everyone involved.
