Proposal to Change League Formats

We propose to update the structure of both the Sunday and Wednesday pool leagues to create more balanced competition, shorter seasons, and greater engagement for all participating teams.

Sunday League

• Change the format from one division to three divisions (total of 24 teams).
• Introduce a promotion and relegation system where three teams move up and three teams move down at the end of each season.

• Benefits include:

  • Shorter, more manageable seasons with fewer fixtures.
  • More balanced and competitive matches within each division.
  • Continued opportunity to play in all bars over time through promotion and relegation.
  • Simpler scheduling and improved league management.

Wednesday League

• Introduce a two-division format, better aligning teams by skill level and maintaining strong competition throughout the season.
• The same promotion and relegation principle applies, with 4 teams moving between divisions at season’s end.
• This structure will make the league more dynamic and enjoyable, while reducing the gap between top and bottom teams.

These proposed changes are designed to improve competitiveness, fairness, and overall participation across both leagues, while keeping the social and community spirit of the pool league strong.
